The Addict in the Street

to our knowledge of the drug-taking teenagers, is disappointing for the British scene. The introduction by Jeremy Larner is excellent. However, the edited versions of tape-recordings by drug addicts is repetitive and lacks both direction and emphasis, although it was interesting to peruse the stories of two addicted brothers and an interview with an addict's mother. One imagines that this formula might be useful for the casual reader, but for the professional reader the material is frustrating in that too
